Organizing

Right, the hardest thing to do is to thing about the concept of the magazine. That's the most important bit as the concept will make the magazine stand out from the crowd. The world is full of all sorts of magazines but I have to think about what will make my magazine stand out and how/what am I going to do to make possible readers be interested in it?

1. Create a theme, topic for my magazine --- think about who is my targeted audience
2. Is it part of a series(what's the general theme) or just a magazine with a theme?
3. After I have chosen my theme try to create a title related to my theme - consider one or two words in terms of title to sum up my theme rather than long names as that will influence the design as well.

4. What do I want to say to my reader? write articles that I care about in relation to my topic(maybe some short stories to give my magazine a personal touch)
5. Collaborate with other artists in the business(MUA, hairstylists, models, designers etc)

6. Make sure I take pictures, especially neutral spaces perfect as a background for written content
7. Search for images licensed with the Creative Commons license online. check if I need permission to alter the photo or use it for non commercial purposes.
8. join forces with other people to draw pictures

9. Design my cover -- it should give a small idea of what's inside but don't give away too much
10. Choose a font that's easy to read and recognizable and has an aesthetic that matches my content
11. Put the title at the top of cover but can also play with it -- look up Harper's Bazaar covers
12. Decide what's going to be on the cover - it should be compelling and connected to the magazine's story.

13. Choose a final aesthetic for my magazine --- the font - using fonts inside the magazine easy to read and that fit wit my theme? do they call back to the font I used for the title on the cover?

14. Decide on how to organize the content: table of contents/ads/colophon follows the table of contents - should list the title, the volume and issue of the magazine, place of publication and the people who worked on it.
15. Order the articles so that the main subject should be in the middle
16. Consider making a "backpage" - fun interviews, infographic

17. Layout of the magazine: keep your formatting consistent(same borders, styles, numbering and font throughout), number the pages(counting the cover as well)
