"From its inception in the late nineteenth century to the present, the magazine has served as a photographic and literary record of its readers lives— the liberated elite of the 1920s, the idealized housewives of the 1950s, the working everywoman of the 1970s, and today’s multiracial, indefinable woman."
Harper's Bazaar - its role is to deliver a sophisticated perspective into the world of fashion, beauty and culture
Elle - it's not so much about fashion as it is about decreeing it
Dazed & Confused - about fashion, film, music and art
I only picked 4 famous fashion magazines as I was curious if the concepts behind them were different than what I had in mind. Of course,as I was expecting, nothing different. Maybe the last one was a bit more complex. They are all about fashion, beauty and style which is quite interesting because they are all successful and they all managed to attract buyers.
So what I would understand from this situation is that even if you have got pretty much the same concept as other magazines that doesn't mean that you can't create your own magazine. It's only about how you decide to organize it and what to have in it to make it different from others, to give it that something that will make the viewer think that it's worth buying it because it's got something else. That is all about!!
