3. Structure

" A fluctuating narrative keeps the curve of interest high, which is good for the reader and for advertising revenue as well."

The structure is the story - the beginning, the middle and the end.

In printed publication the structure is about:

• different themed sections
• decisions about how each "tale" will be told, on how many pages, in what kind of visual style and in what order

"The crescendos need to build and wane sufficiently to keep the reader interested."

 In terms of my articles and my content what I have got so far is:

• street photography - sort of like what Cunningham does

                                       - attribute a name
                                       - when to say no/yes

• red items: images of red objects/items/ possessions

I have created an event on Facebook a while ago, inviting friends to attend. Basically, what they need to do is gather together all the red things that they have got and take a picture and then post it on the Facebook page.  I really liked the idea of Helga Steppan so I really wanted to try that as well with other people.

This is the text that I wrote. 

"Hi there!!

I am creating a magazine based on the obsession for the red colour. I would need your help for that. Whenever you want/have time can you take a picture of all the red things that you posses?

Basically, all you have to do is gather together, in one place, ALL the red things/items that you have got and arrange them however you want to represent you and your personality. Then, just take a quick picture of that and post it here with your name, age, city/country and (this is optional) just a small line about you like for example: " I am crazy and I love travelling."

Why would you do that?

Well first of all because I need your help :) and second, you and your image will be featured in my fashion magazine.

I know you want more than that, so you will all receive a free digital copy of my magazine called "Obsess" once it's ready!!

So what are you waiting for? Show your red obsession!!! :)"

So far I have got around 26 people who said they are attending. A lot of friends said that they like the idea a lot and that they are going to help me which sounds great!!!!

I am going to use these images for this article.

• colour and moods : strong emotions - intensity, love- passion, anger, energy - adventure
• colour and cultures: - chinese brides wear red for their wedding, red roses for valentine's day, cupidon/devil, emergency/warning/stop sign, Red Cross, Indian brides - red sari - purity, sale signs
• red hair: - hair props, hair styling - small tips
• must red items that you posses - you are proud of + 1 line about it
• creative make-up
• article of the psychology of the red colour
• Little Red Riding Hood - Dorian painting
• artist of the isssue - mention an artist: Dorian + red colour swatches + combinations
• red in other language
• history of the red colour - meaning in mythology, history, fashion,arts
• photos with models - add text about possible obsessions for them

This is the list that I wrote weeks ago with possible ideas for my magazine. Now, after receiving some material from people I know I have to change the list.
